A mother from Mesquite is demanding justice for her daughter, who was beaten by two older girls and spent many days in the hospital as a result of the incident. The confrontation that turned violent was captured on camera.
During the time that Ayana is recuperating from her injuries, Isel Lopez is located at home with her daughter.
According to Lopez, “no parent would want their child to be bedridden in a hospital bed for five days while they are receiving treatment.”
According to her, the time spent in the hospital was both physically and emotionally taxing. It was even more challenging to comprehend how Ayana had arrived at that location.
“I was upset because I know things could have gotten much worse with her injuries that she sustained,” she added. “It was a very unfortunate moment for me.”
Only a fraction of the video that was shot on a mobile device should be shared. Ayana, a student at Lanny Frasier Middle School who is in the seventh grade, is seen in the video getting hit multiple times in the head by two other girls while other students watch and videotape the incident.
It has been confirmed by the Mesquite police department that the event took place at Mesquite Memorial Stadium earlier this month. A statement from the school district stated that it took place after school hours, and that there were no events that were sanctioned by the school at the time.
As soon as the incident occurred, Ayana informed her mother that she immediately phoned her.
I approached my mother and said, “Mom, I just got jumped by two high school students.” In response, she asked, “What do you mean?” I was thinking to myself, ‘I just got jumped by high schoolers,'” Ayana exclaimed.
Ayana stated that she was present in order to confront one of the girls when they started fighting, following which two other girls joined in and began punching her.
“They just kept beating on me, and they wouldn’t let me leave,” she added. “I was unable to get up.”
The video has been viewed by the police, and they have stated that it is a component of their investigation. Additionally, they have tried to get in touch with the office of the District Attorney.
Lopez is requesting prompt action and believes that the injuries sustained by her daughter are sufficient grounds for their arrest.
“She has lost mobility in her left leg since she suffered a fracture to her left pelvis.” Her concussion, a grade one laceration of her liver, and grade one kidney injury were all the results of the incident, according to her statement. As a matter of course, I want these girls to be held accountable for what they did to my daughter, and this situation is upsetting because of that.
The conversation concerning what took place is still difficult for Ayana to have. The individual asserts that she is being harassed on social media. Lopez stated that what may have begun as a drama involving teenagers went too far.
According to Mesquite police, the medical records of Ayana could result in significant charges being brought against her.
