16-Year-Old Abdullah Yaha Al-Zaidy Killed in Hit-and-Run on Staniforth Road, Darnall

Someone has been named in Sheffield as the teen walker who was killed in a hit-and-run accident.

Abdullah Yaha Al-Zaidy, 16, was hit by a gray Audi that was probably steering toward three electric bikes on Darnall’s Staniforth Road on Wednesday afternoon.

One of the e-bike riders, a man 18 years old, was seriously hurt and is still in the hospital. On Thursday, a 20-year-old man was grabbed on suspicion of murder.

Now, people in the area and politicians have said nice things about the boy, saying he “always gave the best smiles.” They also said that his death as he walked on the sidewalk behind the e-bikes shocked everyone.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of helping a criminal. They are a 45-year-old woman and two men ages 26 and 46.

All three of them are still in jail.

South Yorkshire Police said that Abdullah was just a “bystander” to what was going on. The vehicle did not stop at the scene of the crime.

Mrs. Khan, who has lived in the area for eight years, said the teen used to give her ice cream at Shansha Red Shop on Staniforth Road.

“He was a good lad, reserved, not talkative but always gives good smiles,” she said to me.

“I feel really sad. I couldn’t sleep, and knowing him makes me really sad.

“He was such a young boy.”

“I can speak for myself and my colleague, councillor Zahira Naz, and say that we were shocked when we heard about this,” said Mary Lea, a Labour councillor from Darnall.

“The first things that came to mind were the boy’s family, the tragedy of his death, and the boy.”

“At this time, our hearts go out to the family of this young man. We can only imagine how sad and hurt they must be.” Their needs are on our minds and in our thoughts.

South Yorkshire Police said they had told the boy’s family and were helping them.

On Friday morning, the South Yorkshire Janazah Announcements Facebook group, which posts about Muslim funerals and burials, shared Abdullah’s name and a picture.

“Abdullah, who was known as Abdul in the area, was a beloved member of the Al-Shafeey Center mosque,” the post said.

“The terrible accident happened as he walked to a nearby store to meet his father so they could eat together.

“May Allah grant him the highest ranks of Jannah and grant his family and friends strength and patience during this unimaginable time.”
