An SUV driven by a 19-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a tree in Brunswick, Maine, early on Sunday morning.
After receiving a call about a collision involving a motor vehicle at approximately 8:46 a.m. on Old Bath Road in the vicinity of Box 391, the Brunswick police department discovered a 2016 Nissan Rogue that had been involved in a collision with a tree. The driver, who has been identified as Kaylah Rusaw and is from Brunswick, was unable to escape her vehicle and appeared to be in critical condition.
According to the preliminary findings of the inquiry, Rusaw was driving her SUV in the direction of Old Bath Road when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the roadway, and collided with a tree. This caused the front and side airbags of the vehicle to activate, which resulted in Rusaw being trapped within the vehicle.
First responders conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Rusaw for almost thirty minutes after she was freed from the SUV. However, she did not survive her injuries and passed away at the site, as stated by the police. It is according to the police that Rusaw was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
In spite of the fact that the investigation is still underway, the police have stated that it appears that speed played a role in the unfortunate occurrence.
