A collision that occurred late on Saturday night on Interstate 84 West in Southbury resulted in the death of a 19-year-old male.
A incident involving a single vehicle occurred on the highway just before exit 15 at around 11:55 p.m., and the vehicle went off the roadway and into the woods. Troopers arrived to the scene.
The state police said that Newtown resident Spencer Jorgenson, who was 19 years old at the time, was driving westbound when he lost control of his vehicle, collided with the metal guardrail that was located on the right shoulder, and then went down an embankment.
At the scene, he was cited as having passed away.
There was a brief closure of the highway, but it has now been reopened.
There is a current investigation that is still going on.
