Three people are charged with taking a 2-year-old girl from her home in Chicago’s Grand Boulevard neighbourhood on Wednesday with a gun.
Three armed individuals broke into the girl’s grandmother’s apartment building in the 4800 block of South Michigan Avenue just before 5 a.m., took the child, the grandmother’s purse and keys, and then drove off in her stolen car, according to Chicago police.
That night, the child was found safe. The grandmother said she was taken by her real mother, who has custody of her but has mental health problems.
Five felonies have been brought against Angelique Mobley, who is 22 years old. They include kidnapping with force or the threat of force, home burglary, and kidnapping a child.
Three felonies have been laid against Lamon Weathers, 33. One is for severe armed kidnapping, and the other is for home invasion with a firearm.
Matthew Price, who is 27 years old, is being charged with three felonies: aggravated armed kidnapping, home invasion with a firearm, and having a stolen car.
Police say that Mobley and Weathers were caught just before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and Price was caught just after midnight on Thursday.
All three of them have to go to court on Saturday for a custody hearing.
