The Rock County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release stating that a man from Winnebago, Illinois, who was 26 years old, tragically lost his life in a collision involving two vehicles that occurred on West Highway 81 on Sunday evening.
On Highway 81, just east of South County Trunk T, in a rural area of Rock County, the fatal head-on collision took place at approximately 10:49 p.m. local time. In addition to emergency medical personnel, deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Green County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene in a rush.
Although the identities of the people who were involved in the collision have not yet been made public, the collision involved two vehicles. However, authorities are continuing to gather information despite the fact that preliminary investigations indicate that the collision occurred under circumstances that are not clear.
The highway was temporarily closed so that a comprehensive investigation could be conducted, and first responders worked to secure the scene. At the scene, the Winnebago man was pronounced dead despite the efforts of emergency personnel who attempted to save his life.
As the investigation into the cause of the crash continues, the authorities are continuing their investigation, and it is anticipated that additional details will be released as well. It is the request of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office that anyone who may have additional information come forward and assist with the investigation that is currently underway.
This tragic event serves as a sobering reminder of the precarious nature of driving, particularly on highways that are located in rural areas.
