43-Year-Old Jason Fritz Taken into Custody for Dog Abuse in St Matthews, Calhoun County

St. Matthews resident Jason Fritz, 43 years old, was taken into custody, according to the announcement made by Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers.

According to the authorities, Fritz’s accusations are a result of an incident that occurred on June 18 and involved law enforcement and Animal Control officials responding to a residence on Reid Street in response to a report of a dog being attacked.

When the officers arrived, they were shown the dog, which was being put onto a vehicle in preparation for its transportation to a veterinarian in Columbia.

The dog appeared to have suffered severe damage, including a number of bite wounds and slashes that were visible.

After some time had passed on that same day, a resident of St. Matthews who was not related to the dog discovered it abandoned on the side of a gravel road many miles away. The dog was still injured and in a very poor condition.

The resident immediately contacted the authorities and transported the animal to a veterinarian clinic in order to receive immediate medical attention.

Upon his identification, Fritz was charged with abandoning animals, mistreating animals, and intentionally inflicting harm to animals because of his actions.

An innocent animal being subjected to cruel treatment is both senseless and horrifying, and we are not going to put up with it. Whenever we come across incidents of this nature, we pursue them to the utmost extent possible. According to Sheriff Summers.

Fritz was placed into the Orangeburg County Detention Center after the Magistrate court set his bond at $11,000 cash or surety. The bond was set before the court on Friday.
