7-Year-Old Dies After Vicious Dog Attack in Rural Alabama Community

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office says a 7-year-old boy died last night after being attacked by a dog.

The Sheriff’s Office says that around 6:10 p.m., officers were sent to the area of County Road 147 near Calera. When the cops got there, they saw that the boy had been badly hurt by one or more dogs.

After being taken to the hospital for care, the child later died there.

“Our hearts are broken for the child and the family who have lost a loved one in this terrible accident,” says Sheriff John Shearon. “We are fully committed to a full investigation to find out how this terrible event happened and help make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

After the incident, a probe was launched to find out if the animals were strays or owned by someone.

The dogs that attacked were later found by the Sheriff’s Office. Chilton County Animal Control came right away and put the animals in a safe place.

The dog’s owner is fully working with the investigation which is still going on in Chilton County.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to make sure their pets are safe and follow the rules in their area about animal control.

As more information comes in, it will be added to this report.
