Following a confrontation that occurred during the match between San Diego FC and LA Galaxy over the weekend, the organization has announced that almost thirty-dozen individuals have been banned from attending any and all Major League Soccer events.
Following the brawl that took place at Snapdragon Stadium during the evening game on May 24th, San Diego FC has stated that they have identified 33 persons as being engaged in the incident. There was a lack of clarity on whether or not the individuals was already aware of the prohibition.
“In order to verify names and ensure that the bans are enforced, we are working together with the officials at Snapdragon Stadium, Major League Soccer, the Los Angeles Galaxy, and the local law enforcement. According to a portion of a written statement released by San Diego FC, “Our collective review of the incidents is ongoing, and additional actions may be taken.”
A video that was released over the weekend showed a huge number of people attacking each other in the stands after the match by hurling beer and fists at each other. There was a lack of clarity regarding the events that led up to the brawl; however, some witnesses on social media suggested that it may have begun over a dispute with a flag.
The San Diego Football Club (San Diego FC) issued a statement condemning the violence that occurred during the match and reaffirmed their commitment to establishing an inclusive atmosphere in which “San Diego feels proud to come together as one community to celebrate the game we love.”
According to the officials, Snapdragon Stadium will also strengthen the level of security during their events.
Since it first competed in the Major League Soccer, the newest squad has experienced difficulties throughout matches. During the first home game of the season, supporters yelled out a homophobic slogan, which is a common cry heard during matches played by the Mexican national soccer team. Mikey Varas, the coach of San Diego FC, and Tyler Heaps, the sporting director, both voiced their disapproval of the transfer.
