Two drivers are suspected of being intoxicated in a collision that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Santa Fe, which resulted in five persons being hurt.
According to Lieutenant Robert Rodriguez of the Santa Fe Police Department, the two drivers and three passengers on the vehicle all sustained “non-life-threatening injuries,” including bone fractures.
As of Sunday morning, there had been no charges filed in connection with the incident; however, Rodriguez stated that the cops were still conducting an investigation, and charges against the drivers were still in the process of being filed.
At one forty-eight minutes past the hour on Sunday, the police were called to the scene of the collision, which took place close to the intersection of Rufina Street and Richards Avenue. Rodriguez stated that the concerned vehicles were a gray Chrysler 300 with two passengers and a black Chevrolet Trailblazer with one passenger. Both of these vehicles were engaged in the accident.
It was said by him that both automobiles had suffered “severe damage,” and he added that there were no children involved.
Rodriguez stated that the investigating officers have a strong suspicion that both drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs; nevertheless, he did not disclose any other details regarding the investigation or provide the names of the drivers.
As of Sunday afternoon, the inmate database of the Santa Fe County jail did not have any information that indicated anyone had been booked on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after the time of the accident.
As the Santa Fe Police Department investigated the collision, a portion of Rufina Street that is located west of Richards Avenue was shut down for more than seven hours on Sunday morning, according to emergency notifications that were issued by the city of Santa Fe. Sunday morning, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the road was reopened.
