10-Year-Old Girl Severely Burned in Backyard Accident in Cherry Hill

On Sunday evening, a backyard fire pit caused major injuries to a girl who was ten years old. The girl was among the six paediatric and adult patients who were sent to the hospital for burn treatment.

According to New Jersey 101.5, Fire Chief Wade Houlihan stated that the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. during a private party that consisted of a large number of attendees. Within the span of three minutes, firefighters who had just returned from putting out another fire were able to respond to the 911 call.

According to Houlihan, the burns that were sustained by the girl and one other victim are deemed to be life-threatening circumstances. The names of those who were killed were not made public whatsoever.

In the meantime, the Fire Marshall’s Office and the Cherry Hill Police Department are continuing their investigation into the events that led to persons being burned. The chief stated that that a deck fire that had been reported to dispatchers had been put out by the time that firefighters arrived on the scene.

“It is not typical for a backyard party to proceed in this route and to act in a manner that is somewhat asymmetrical. Houlihan explained that this is the reason why everything is still being pieced together and is being researched.
