An 81-year-old woman from Ocala has been brought into custody after allegations surfaced that she used pepper spray on two small children, ages three and six, as they were playing with bubbles outside of their home.
Ada Anderson was arrested on Saturday and charged with criminal violence. She is currently being held in prison.
Through the use of social media, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Monday that deputies had responded to a disturbance that occurred at a property located on Pine Court Drive.
A neighbour named Anderson approached the fence that separated their properties and sprayed them with “bear mace.” The woman and her girls were playing with bubbles in their driveway when the incident occurred. The woman said that she and her daughters were enjoying themselves.
According to the affidavit, the mother indicated that she and the girls were susceptible to having their lungs affected by the spray because it came into contact with them. According to the affidavit, a young girl of six years old indicated that the spray caused her to experience irritation in her nose.
The woman claims that Anderson also uttered racial insults while she was spraying them, according to the authorities who reported the incident.
Authorities said that a liquid with a colour that was somewhere between orange and brown was found on the fence and grass of the property that belonged to the victims. Pepper spray was recognised as the substance that caused discomfort in the nasal passages and throats of the deputies, according to the officials who reported the incident.
“She tells us every day, like, an everyday occurrence, every day since we’ve been here, that we don’t belong here,” said April Morant, the girlfriend’s mother. “She tells us that we don’t belong here.” “We are the moOcala woman who is accused of using pepper spray and racial slurs against children and mother,” the statement reads.
“nkeys” She also refers to us as the “N” word. Therefore, there is always something. Therefore, I am aware that she is doing everything in her power to get me to move.
Morant claims that Anderson has been harassing her family on a consistent basis ever since she moved into the community in November. When News 6 asked Anderson for an interview to express her perspective, she declined to provide any remarks and stated that she would not be available.
Apparently, Anderson said that the girls were racing along the fence line and shouting at her. This information is included in the affidavit. As a response, she opened the door to her porch and sprayed a liquid in their direction, claiming that it did not reach them because they were forty feet away from her.
A person named Anderson has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Marion County jail. According to the information that can be found online, she was released from jail on Sunday night after her bond was successfully secured.
