Massive Crash on I-95 in Burlington, MA Sends Metal Plates Flying Across Highway

A car collided with a tractor-trailer on Thursday, sending massive metal plates flying onto Interstate 95 in Burlington, Massachusetts, during the morning commute. As a result of the collision, a person was taken to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

Around 6:30 in the morning, it took place on the side of the highway that was heading north. During that time period, George Goffredo was operating a truck for his family business, which had a load of steel plates in the back of the vehicle.

Following the accident, Apple Watch dialled 911.

“Someone was really close, like real close to my back tire,” stated Goffredo in response. I heard a loud bang before I had the opportunity to take any action. Specifically, he was the one who picked up the rear end of my truck.

Despite the fact that four of the plates fell on the opposite side of the highway, they did not collide with any passenger vehicles. According to Goffredo, the plates were held in place by the maximum number of chains; however, the force of the impact caused the chains to break, which resulted in the plates becoming dislodged.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the driver of the vehicle had critical injuries despite being brought to Lahey Hospital, where they were found to be awake or attentive. They have not been reported to be in any danger.

Heavy damage was shown on the front end of the vehicle in the images that were taken at the scene.

Immediately following the collision, the tractor-trailer, which was leaking fuel, came to a stop in the lane designated for breakdowns. When Goffredo’s Apple Watch felt the impact of the collision, it immediately dialled 911, which allowed emergency personnel to get at the scene in a timely manner.

Goffredo remarked, “It was a strange experience, but it was a calming experience.” “I felt like I was going to be alright no matter what.”

A period of time greater than one hour was required to remove all of the metal plates off the highway.

The left two lanes of the northbound side of Interstate 95 were closed by the police until 9:15 a.m., during which time crews sought to contain the fuel leak that was coming from the tractor-trailer.

This truck driver is relieved that no one was murdered.

As a result of the plates falling onto the highway, Goffredo stated that everyone is fortunate that no one was harmed.

Goffredo asked, “Let this not be the end,” and he urged. “Lots of people might have been negatively affected by it. Furthermore, even if it wasn’t my fault, I couldn’t live with myself knowing that I was engaged in the situation. I hope that everyone is doing well and that everything is OK.

Neither the cause of the collision nor whether or not any charges will be filed was disclosed by the Massachusetts State Police.
