In Franklin, a vigil was held in memory of the mother and her little daughter who were killed by a guy who was accused with driving under the influence of alcohol.
The grieving community is praying for the members of the Patel family who are still alive. Minaben Patel, who is 38 years old, and her daughter Krisha, who is five years old, were honoured.
A watch for the mother and the daughter
Kunj Patel, who was just 14 years old at the time, limped out of a wheelchair to leave flowers at the location where he survived a terrible accident that also claimed the lives of his mother and his 3-year-old sister. The community was praying for him and lifting him up as he made his way out of the wheelchair.
As Kiran Kumar Patel put it, “The family is going through a very difficult time right now.” “We just crying, ‘why God you did this’ because it was just a nice innocent family you know this is not the time to take away two family members.”
On May 24, the Patel family was on their way to get a birthday cake for their son, who was 14 years old. However, according to the investigators, James Blanchard, 21, who is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, crossed the centre line and slammed their vehicle head-on while it was travelling along Grove Street.
Although Krisha passed away in the hospital that night, Minaben struggled for her life for nine days, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and died. The father was able to live.
Upon hearing about the horrible accident, even individuals who were not familiar with the Patel family expressed their want to express their love and support them.
It is a dreadful thing that we learnt about the accident, and it has broken us apart. Nancy Dowd, a member of the community, stated that although we did not know them, we are all members of the same family in the world.
According to Saed Ahmed, “I was in a state of pain when I saw the news.” “I have a 5-year-old daughter, and it really touched me, and I cannot imagine how the family is coping with this.”
The sorrow and the pain of the lives that were snatched from them far too soon have now left a community feeling burdened down.
Frank Falvey, a member of the community, expressed his confusion by asking, “Why did this have to happen in Franklin, which is one of the safest communities in Massachusetts?”
There are other counts against Blanchard, including one for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During his arraignment, he entered a plea of not guilty, and he is currently being held on a bail of $250,000.
