One Dead in Two-Semi Collision and Fire on I-69 Near Fishers

A collision between two semis occurred on Interstate 69 outside of Fishers on Thursday afternoon, resulting in the death of at least one person.

In a statement to News 8, an INDOT dispatcher verified the collision.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), a collision involving two semi trucks occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. Because of this, one of the semis caught fire.

The accident resulted in the death of at least one individual. The presence of any other injuries was not known at the time.

Since 2:30 p.m., all lanes of Interstate 69, both northbound and southbound, have been closed. Near exit 210, the Fishers Police Department has reported that traffic is being rerouted off of the roadway.

It was unclear how long the highway would be closed, according to INDOT, which stated that the scene is still active.

Contacted the Indiana State Police in order to obtain additional information.
