Fiery Wreck on I-49 in Grandview Sends Two People to Hospital, Authorities Confirm

According to the Grandview Police Department, two people are now being treated at the hospital following a collision that occurred on Wednesday afternoon along Interstate 49 and caused two vehicles to catch fire.

Police and fire agencies from Grandview were called to the scene of a collision that occurred on the East Frontage (Outer) Road of Interstate 49 at approximately four o’clock on Wednesday, May 28.

According to the police, a light pickup truck and an SUV were involved in an accident that got very close to becoming head-on. In the aftermath of the collision, both the pickup truck and the SUV caught fire, as reported by the police.

The driver of the truck was picked up by bystanders, according to the police. It was necessary for the Grandview Fire Department to get the driver of the SUV out of the vehicle since he was trapped within the vehicle.

Nevertheless, according to the police, onlookers were able to stop the fire from spreading further in the SUV.

The two drivers were taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries after being transferred there. There was no one else saw in either of the vehicles.

The Grandview Police Department is conducting an investigation into the events that led up to the intersection.
