An accident that occurred on the Thruway has resulted in a major injury to a New York State Trooper.
Just to the west of Exit 26, this incident took place at approximately 12:29 p.m.
During the course of a traffic stop, the trooper’s patrol car was involved in an accident with a semi-truck, as stated by the State Police.
The incident caused the trooper to fall down an embankment and take a tumble over the rails.
They have suffered critical injuries, although none of them are life-threatening. The trooper was transported to the Albany Medical Centre for treatment.
After the traffic stop, the passenger of the vehicle that was involved was sent to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, where they were treated for minor injuries.
As emergency crews came to the scene and conducted their investigation, the collision caused all westbound lanes to be stopped for many hours.
