Tragic I-80 Crash Near Penryn Leaves Carmichael Woman Dead, Man Seriously Injured

An accident involving a single vehicle that occurred on Interstate 80 on Thursday evening resulted in the death of a woman from Carmichael who was 21 years old and left a guy with significant injuries.

The collision took place on the westbound side of Interstate 80, just east of Penryn Road, in unincorporated Placer County, according to the Auburn local office of the California Highway Patrol. It took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. According to the investigators from the California Highway Patrol, a 1997 Toyota 4Runner was moving in the right lane when it may have suffered a problem with its tires.

The male driver, who was also from Carmichael and was 27 years old, arrived at the hospital with critical injuries. Emergency services rushed him there. Although the female passenger has not been recognized by the coroner division of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that she had passed away at the scene of the accident.
