An accident that involved two automobiles and resulted in injuries took place on Thursday afternoon on Interstate 90 in Austin, Mower County, close to 4th Street Northwest. At approximately 12:47 p.m., a Kenworth semi and a Chevrolet Silverado were involved in an accident that occurred on the highway. Both vehicles were heading in the westbound direction.
Both of the vehicles were traveling in the same way when they collided, as stated by the Minnesota State Patrol. A rapid response was made by emergency teams from Austin Police and Fire, as well as Mayo Ambulance, to the area in order to provide assistance to individuals who were involved. In the aftermath of the collision, medical personnel and fire crews worked together to provide assistance to those who were hurt, ensuring that the injured individual received prompt medical attention.
Michael William Kiesler, 62 years old, of Waseca, was identified as the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado. He sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for additional treatment. It was during the collision when the Silverado’s airbags went into action. It was determined that James Arthur Ward, 59 years old, from Roland, Iowa, who was driving the Kenworth semi, did not sustain any injuries and was not sent for medical treatment. The accident was claimed to have occurred with both drivers wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision, and neither driver was under the influence of alcohol.
It was observed by the authorities that the road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation into the incident in order to identify the variables that contributed to it and to evaluate any potential violations or mechanical difficulties that may have occurred.
