A collision involving two vehicles that occurred early on Sunday morning on the Long Island Expressway near Lake Ronkonkoma resulted in the serious injuries of three sisters, according to the reporting of the police.
According to the detectives, the incident took place at the intersection of Ronkonkoma Avenue and the LIE South Service Road just before 6:30 in the morning.
According to the authorities, Jesilynne Bauer, who was twenty years old at the time, was driving southbound on Ronkonkoma Avenue when her vehicle collided with a Jeep that was operating in the opposite direction on South Service Road.
To receive medical attention for serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, Jesilynne Bauer, along with her two younger sisters, Brooke Bauer, 19, and Madysen Bauer, 16, all of Centereach, were transported to Stony Brook Hospital.
Both the driver of the Jeep, a Shirley resident named Jay Perez, who is 27 years old, and the passenger, a Shirley resident named Elizabeth Gutierrez, who is 54 years old, declined to receive medical treatment at the site of the accident.
During the safety inspection, both vehicles were taken into custody.
