The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 36-year-old man died after he ran “directly into the path” of a lorry on Interstate 10 in Leon County.
On June 12, troopers arrived just before 10:30 a.m. after an empty car transporter had left a rest stop close to mile marker 194 in order to return to I-10 heading west.
The pedestrian was recognized as being from Vidalia, Georgia, but troopers stated, “It appears the (man) ran directly into the path” of the semi.
According to the news release, the truck driver, a 58-year-old male from Georgia, “applied hard braking in an attempt to avoid a collision” but was unable to do so.
According to the first listing, the person was in “critical and unstable condition.” FHP informed the media two hours later that he had passed away from his wounds.
Troopers knew nothing more about what had transpired. An investigation has been launched by the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to troopers, the individual was treated by first responders prior to being transported to the hospital. FDOT Road Rangers, Leon County EMS, and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office provided on-scene assistance.
