There was a demonstration outside of an immigration court in the Bay Area earlier this week, and officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that they are looking for two individuals who they believe attacked federal police.
Photos of the two individuals were made public on Friday by the San Francisco office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). According to the FBI, they were spotted during the demonstration that took place on Tuesday at the courthouse in Concord. They are deemed to be “persons of interest” in connection with an assault on federal officials and the theft of government property.
A green baseball cap, sunglasses, a black mask with a surgical-style design, a black zip-up sweatshirt, a black t-shirt, and jeans, along with black shoes, were all items that were worn by one of the individuals that the Federal Bureau of Investigation looked for. The second individual was observed wearing a mask that resembled a surgical mask, a black shirt with a graphic, a grey vest, brown trousers, black boots and a crossbody bag that was a variety of colours.
During this time, the agency is also offering a reward of $25,000 in order to locate a lady who was involved in the demonstration on Tuesday.
The immigration courts was the location where a woman wearing a pink hat approached a federal agent who was attempting to take a guy into custody, according to a video taken by News Bay Area. Later on, she was spotted hitting a law enforcement officer when she was standing in front of a vehicle that was being used by law enforcement.
Following the detention of four immigrants at the courthouse, protesters and agents engaged in a violent confrontation, as stated by solicitors and witnesses.
“We at the FBI understand the importance of our First Amendment right to protest and express our opinions, but the moment that crosses into violence and assault, clear lines have been crossed,” Dan Costin, who works for the FBI, stated on Wednesday.
Additionally, on Friday, Mayor Carlyn Obringer published a statement regarding the recent occurrences, in which she stated that the city is “guided by inclusion, dignity, and respect.”
In accordance with the statute of the state of California, the mayor stated that the police department of the city does not enforce federal immigration laws or detain persons solely on the basis of their legal status.
A federal immigration court may be found in Concord. The purpose of this court is to give individuals a chance to present their cases and be heard in a manner that is fair and impartial. Those individuals who chose to fulfil their constitutionally protected right to peaceful protest have our full support. “At the same time, we will continue to be committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community,” Obringer added. “If some actions ever cross the line into violence, we will continue to have that commitment.”
