Texas Father Charged with Murder After Leaving 1-Year-Old Daughter Strapped in Hot Car Overnight

In response to what a sheriff in Louisiana described as a “devastating” death, a father who is 32 years old has been taken into custody.

According to a press statement issued by the Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to a property in Madisonville on Sunday after a girl who was 21 months old was discovered lifeless and strapped in a car seat inside of a vehicle.

This information comes from the sheriff’s office, which stated that the young girl was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The detectives discovered that the girl’s father, Joseph Boatman, had come at the residence of a relative at approximately 2:30 in the morning in order to get his daughter. It was reported by the deputies that the man abducted the girl, placed her in the vehicle, and then, for reasons that are not known, returned to the residence.

The girl was not discovered inside the vehicle until approximately noon the following day, when a relative discovered her.

The National Weather Service said that Madisonville, which is located approximately 40 miles north of New Orleans, experienced a high temperature of 92 degrees during the course of the daily forecast.

Investigators discovered “that prior to Boatman arriving to pick up his daughter, he had consumed multiple alcoholic beverages,” according to the sheriff’s office.

In accordance with the sheriff’s office, Boatman was brought into custody on Sunday and charged with murder in the second degree. There was a bond posted for him at $750,000.

The sheriff, Randy Smith, issued a statement in which he said, “This is a devastating loss that no family ever wants to face.” The situation can become fatal in a matter of minutes if a youngster is left inside of a vehicle, and this is especially true on days when the heat index is higher than 100 degrees on the day in question. In this particular situation, judgement was affected, and the outcome was extremely emotionally distressing.
