One of the girls who was struck by a vehicle who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol on Thursday afternoon has reportedly passed away, according to the authorities.
According to the Manchester Police Department, a girl who was 11 months old passed away as a result of her injuries at a hospital in Boston.
Even though she was also struck, the victim’s sister, who is 11 years old, is still receiving treatment for her critical injuries.
The two girls were with their father on June 12 when they were struck by a car that fled the scene of the accident. The car was traveling in the vicinity of Belmont Street and Lake Avenue, according to the police.
The driver, who has been identified as Manchester resident Justin LaClair, 23, sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening as a result of the collision. Multiple counts of reckless behavior, two counts of conduct after an accident, and aggravated driving while under the influence are among the charges that have been brought against him.
His fees might be increased in the future.
In an interview with Boston 25 News, a resident of the neighborhood named Steven Cole stated that he had just left his home with five children in order to go to a park in the neighborhood when LaClair came barreling down the street at a high rate of speed, making contact with his two daughters.
On account of the fact that they are children, I would like justice to be served. I can’t believe that,” he exclaimed.
This incident is still being looked into by authorities.
