An off-duty officer was involved in a shooting that is currently being investigated by the Weatherford Police Department, with the assistance of the Texas Rangers. It was towed away from the scene of the accident a vehicle that had gunshot holes in the front windshield.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that at approximately one o’clock on Sunday afternoon, officers from the Weatherford Police Department were dispatched to a business located in the 2500 block of East Interstate 20 that was being burglarized. However, the owner of the business succeeded in putting a stop to the burglary.
The suspect in the burglary has been confirmed to have passed away by Sgt. William Lockridge of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
An Arlington police officer who was not on duty was involved in the incident, as stated by the Arlington Police Department. The police agency has stated that the officer did not sustain any injuries and has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with their regulations.
During the investigation that was being performed by law enforcement from Weatherford police, the Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Arlington police, crime scene tape was stretched around the outside of a warehouse. This tape could be seen from the frontage road of the highway.

The majority of the time that investigators spent was spent behind the warehouse, particularly in the area where several trailers were parked.
It was observed that a tow truck was being used to remove a small SUV that had three bullet holes in the front windshield on the driver’s side. This occurred during the course of the investigation. The Texas Department of Public Safety declined to comment on the automobile that was riddled with bullet holes.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the investigation is still underway, but there is no threat to the general public.
