Knox County Fatal Motorcycle Accident: Rider Dies, Passenger Seriously Injured

The Ohio State Highway Patrol made the announcement on June 15 that a motorcycle accident that occurred on June 14 in Knox County resulted in the death of one person and the serious injury of another.

At approximately 6:25 p.m., Harry Young IV, who is 39 years old and hails from Mount Vernon, was operating a Harley-Davidson motorbike from 2006 while traveling westbound on U.S. Route 36 near milepost 3 in Centerburg. A traffic sign and a utility pole were both struck by Young’s vehicle when he drove off the right side of the roadway. According to the news release issued by the Highway Patrol, neither Young nor the passenger, Samantha Hedrick, who is 36 years old and hails from Mount Vernon, were currently wearing helmets.

A medical examiner at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus determined that Young had passed away after he was taken there. Hedrick was diagnosed with life-threatening injuries and transported to the Ohio Health Grant Hospital in Columbus for treatment. No information regarding Hedrick’s present status was provided by the highway patrol.

The investigation into the collision is still ongoing by the highway patrol service.
