Man Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Long Beach Freeway

Long Beach was the location of a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a man who was killed when his own semi-truck was rear-ended by another truck.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a collision that occurred at 6:40 in the morning on June 18 on the 2600 block of Pier T Avenue.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim had stopped his vehicle adjacent to the curb line. When a semi-truck travelling in the opposite direction rear-ended his vehicle, he had just exited the vehicle and was standing adjacent to the engine compartment.

According to the police, the sudden impact caused him to fall to the ground, and he was then run over by his truck, which had been pushed forward as a result of the collision.

In spite of the fact that he was given life-saving measures, the paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

During the investigation, the second truck driver remained at the scene and is providing assistance to the authorities.

Despite the fact that the investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing, the police have stated that neither speeding nor distracted driving nor impaired driving appeared to be contributing factors.

A notification of the next of kin has been requested by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner; however, the identity of the victim is currently being withheld.

Anyone who may have seen what happened is urged to contact Detective Ashley Van Holland of the Los Angeles Police Department at the number 562-570-7355.
