As a result of a high-speed traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Charlotte County, a man from Port Charlotte was charged with serious offenses. The Florida Highway Patrol observed him traveling at 115 miles per hour while sitting in the back seat of his vehicle, which contained a baby who was 10 months old.
In the vicinity of the Harborview Road exit, the incident took place on Sunday, when law enforcement officers stopped Charles Wheeler II, who was 29 years old.
Troopers from the state reported that he was driving at an excessive speed, weaving in and out of traffic, following other drivers, and using Snapchat on his phone while he was behind the wheel.
The child of Wheeler’s girlfriend, who was ten months old at the time, was riding in the backseat. According to the troopers, Wheeler came dangerously close to crashing while he was attempting to avoid a mattress on the highway.
Following the pursuit of Wheeler, law enforcement officers placed him under arrest on charges of reckless driving and neglecting a child.
The deputies say that while they were driving to the Charlotte County Jail, Wheeler’s phone started playing extremely offensive music in the patrol car.
During the process of the trooper’s attempt to reduce the volume of the device, he came across a Snapchat video that displayed Wheeler’s speedometer at 110 miles per hour with the caption “Good Vibes Only.”
