US Citizen Speaks Out After Violent Border Patrol Arrest in Pico Rivera

On the basis of a $5,000 bond, Adrian Martinez was released from federal detention this week after a hearing that took place at the federal level. One week ago, immigration agents made the arrest of the 20-year-old individual at the parking lot of the Walmart located in Pico Rivera. A video camera was able to capture the arrest.

During one of their operations, which involved the detention of undocumented immigrants, federal immigration officials arrested Martinez on June 18 in the parking lot of Walmart. Martinez attempted to intercede as the authorities were carrying out one of their operations.

According to statements made by the United States Customs and Border Patrol following the incident, Martinez was taken into custody for reportedly hitting two officers.

Martinez was ordered to post a bond of $5,000 and was subsequently released by a federal judge.

When Martinez was subdued by the cops, he continued to try to get up because he was afraid of being hit. “I was scared,” Martinez stated, adding that he was afraid of being hit.

Martinez is being charged with conspiracy to hinder or injure an officer, which is a felony, according to attorneys from the Miller Law Group, who are representing Martinez. The attorneys claim that Martinez is not being charged with assault or attempted assault.

The attorneys noted in their release that “it is clearly a trumped-up charge field to justify the treatment of the federal agents.”

Martinez stated that he was held downtown along with other undocumented immigrants who were chained. He was afraid that he would be deported, despite the fact that he attempted to tell the cops that he was born in the United States.

“They wouldn’t talk to me, even let me use a phone to call my family and let them know were I was,” Martinez explained to reporters.

Despite the fact that Adrian was observing his own mother from a van, Martinez’s mother stated that she attempted to provide Adrian’s birth certificate to agents at the Federal building. However, the agents informed her that Adrian was not present at the time. It was impossible for him to reveal his whereabouts to her.

According to Adrian’s mother, “These are the people we are supposed to trust,” and she said this.

In Pico Rivera, where ICE raids have caused complaints from the public and politicians, Martinez’s detention and the charge that he punched cops resulted in loud protests. The allegations that Martinez hit officers were made public. Next month, Martinez is scheduled to appear in court again.
