According to the lawsuit that was filed in Jackson County court, a man from Johnson County intends to sue a petrol station in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming that he was shot on the premises by either the management of the station or an employee of the business.
According to the allegations laid out in the lawsuit, Nicholas Stone was present at a Sinclair gas station located at Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 8, 2023, along with three other individuals.
It is said in the lawsuit that Stone and another man waited outside the petrol station while the others went into their respective vehicles.
According to the lawsuit, an unidentified guy approached the two individuals while they were waiting outside and “became angry with them because of their behavior.” The individual “appeared to be intoxicated, as he was stumbling, slurring his words, and behaving aggressively” toward Stone. Stone was the target of the statement.
Stone is said to have been confronted by the manager of the petrol station, who then “cornered him,” according to the allegations made in the lawsuit. Following Stone’s cousin’s intervention, the conflict escalated into a violent altercation.
The unidentified man is said to have worked for the manager or to have been his “agent” in the complaint. In the lawsuit, it is stated that the manager reportedly told the man to “go ahead,” and then the unknown man shot a revolver in the direction of Stone and the other individual.
A bullet hit Stone while he was running away from the incident, according to the lawsuit. Stone was leaving the scene. In his statement, he described the injuries he has had as “serious and permanent bodily harm with significant emotional distress.”
According to the lawsuit, the manager and the mystery individual had already departed the gas station by the time the police arrived at the scene since they had already left.
According to the lawsuit, Sinclair Oil Corporation and AKI-1704 Grand, the limited liability company that owns the property of the gas station, are each facing one count of negligent hiring and retention against defendants and negligent security. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges they are responsible for negligent security.
According to the records filed with the court, the non-named defendant is being charged with one count of assault and one case of battery.
In this particular instance, there are no plans to have any additional court sessions.
The Sinclair Oil Corporation did not present itself for remark at the time of this writing.
