La Salle Tavern Raises $1,700 and 146 Pounds of Food for Local Pantry

The Illinois Valley Food Pantry received 146 pounds of non-perishable food products and $1,700 in donations from a fundraiser that was held on June 28 at a pub in La Salle called FYA (For You All). This was a beautiful display of community solidarity that contributed to the success of the event. This event highlights the fact that there is a joint effort being made to tackle food insecurity in the district.

During the meeting that took place on July 2, FYA co-managers Katie Orsini and Ricky Parsons delivered the check to Mary Jo Credi, who is the Executive Director of the Illinois Valley Food Pantry. Beginning in 1982, the pantry, which can be found at 122 Wright Street in La Salle, has been supporting the community by offering crucial food aid to families that are struggling to make ends meet. This donation will considerably strengthen their efforts, particularly as they are getting ready to relocate to a larger facility in Peru in order to meet the ever-increasing demand the country is experiencing.

Volunteers are essential to the smooth operation of the Illinois Valley Food Pantry, which also relies largely on financial contributions from the local community. Contributions, whether monetary or in the form of food supplies, are always appreciated and can be delivered straight to the pantry during the hours that it is open for business. Visit the organization’s official website at for additional information or to make a contribution.

The generosity of FYA is a shining example of the power that can be harnessed when local businesses and residents work together to provide assistance to those who are in need. This demonstrates the resilience and compassion that the La Salle community possesses.
