Man Killed in Clairemont E-Bike Crash: Two Arrested, Confirms SDPD

According to the police, two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Clairemont in March and resulted in the death of a man who was riding an electric bike.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision took place on March 29 at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the 6900 block of Balboa Avenue, which is located close to Hathaway Street.

The bicyclist, who was in his 30s, was reportedly traveling westbound and transitioning from the bike lane to the left turn pocket when he was struck by two cars, according to the police. According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was only hit by a single vehicle.

According to the San Diego Police Department, both drivers left the injured man in the roadway. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

After conducting an investigation, San Diego Police Department traffic investigators identified the suspects as Kamille Agustin, 27, of San Diego, who was believed to have been driving a white 2021 Dodge Charger at the time of the collision, and Anthony Phan, 23, of San Diego, who was believed to have been driving a gray Mercedes E53. Both of these individuals were believed to have been involved in the collision.

On Wednesday, Agustin and Phan turned themselves in to the authorities and were subsequently booked into the County Jail for the felony offense of hit and run operation.

There is still an ongoing investigation.
