In Chula Vista, California, on Monday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported that a man was arrested and charged with murder after they stated that he had intentionally driven into a motorcycle, resulting in the death of the rider.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Ulysses Jimenez, 22, was arrested and booked into jail on charges of first-degree murder and hit-and-run causing injury for the collision that occurred at 8 p.m. on Monday. It was reported by the California Highway Patrol that the driver of the red Tesla was traveling southbound in the carpool lane of Interstate 805, just north of Telegraph Canyon Road, when he “intentionally” collided with the rear of a grey motorcycle.
Jorge Uribe, a 53-year-old motorcyclist, was known to have passed away at the scene of the accident.
CHP reported that the Tesla continued forward and collided with a black Ram from 2012 that contained six people. All of the individuals inside the Ram sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
In Chula Vista, a multi-car collision that resulted in the death of one individual prompted the issuance of a sig-alert on Tuesday morning. The driver of the Tesla allegedly fled the scene of the accident on foot after the collision, but he was later apprehended and taken into custody.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they are dedicated to conducting an investigation that is both comprehensive and exhaustive into this incident. Captain M. Vargas of the California Highway Patrol stated that “we owe it to the victims and their families to ensure that all these facts are uncovered and that justice is served.”
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Tesla was charged with multiple felony offenses, one of which was murder. Investigations are still ongoing to determine whether or not he was operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
The videos that Jenny Kiti and her children took of Jimenez walking away from his crashed Tesla while barefoot and carrying a handful of cash were captured on video by Jenny Kiti and her children.
“I believe he was attempting to lure people into giving him a ride, but they were not falling for it. Then he began to become angry, to the point where he was flipping people off,” Kiti said.
According to Kiti, Jimenez was surrounded by law enforcement officers with their weapons drawn. Although Jimenez did not immediately comply with the police’s orders, he was eventually taken into custody without any incident.
