Two young men from San Diego were able to escape the flash floods that occurred in Texas early on Friday morning and washed through a number of youth summer camps.
Kaelan Kubena, who was 11 years old at the time, was attending Camp La Junta, which is located in Central Texas, during the summer. When the campsite began to flood at approximately four in the morning, camp counselors raced into his cabin in order to get them to higher ground. When he reached that point, he immediately became aware of the gravity of the situation.

He never in his wildest dreams expected that the rain would turn his time spent at camp into a potentially fatal circumstance.
“To tell you the truth, we witnessed an entire cottage floating down to the point where we knew things were getting really serious out there. Kaelan stated that they began to understand that this was a genuine problem caused by a natural disaster.
Their camp is situated on the banks of the Guadalupe River, which surged by almost 30 feet in a span of less than two hours, sweeping everything that was in its way.
During one point, he stated that counselors swam back to save younger students who were located in cabins that were more submerged.
Images have been taken of cabins that have been washed out at Camp Mystic, with many beds, pillows, and blankets soaked in mud within the rooms.
