One of the animals at the local zoo has been killed as a result of a tragic event, according to the announcement made by the zoo.
One of the most beloved Plains zebras at the Roger Williams Park Zoo, Samantha, passed away recently, according to the press release.
It would appear that Samantha experienced a panic attack during the storm that took place on the evening of July 3rd. She was able to sustain a fatal injury after hitting with a fence in her holding area, and a necropsy verified that she passed away instantly.
“This was a truly tragic accident, and our Zoo family is heartbroken by this sudden and unexpected loss,” said the zoo’s director.
Samantha was a well-liked group member of the zebra herd, and she shared an especially close relationship with Tundra, who was her partner. Animal care and veterinary teams are keeping a careful eye on Tundra and Zipper, the two remaining zebras at the Zoo, as they adjust to the sudden death of their companion.
Samantha was well-known for having a disposition that was both lovely and shy. She had reached the age of 24 when she arrived at the Zoo in the year 2003.
