Couple in Georgia Charged After 250 Animals Found Living in Terrible Conditions

The local authorities in Georgia have described the situation as “one of the worst cases of animal abuse and neglect” they have ever witnessed. Because of the horrifying conditions in which more than 250 animals were discovered at the couple’s residence, the couple is now facing charges of animal cruelty.

Nathaniel Levon Curington, 44, and Aimee Renee Curington, 45, were brought into prison on July 9 as a result of an inquiry into allegations of animal mistreatment that were made at the residence of the pair, which is located on Sells Lane in Trenton.

According to the Law Enforcement Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture, investigators took a total of 256 animals from the farm. Many of the animals were either in bad health, had been grossly neglected, or had passed away.

There were approximately 240 dogs and 16 cats discovered at the residence, according to reports from local news sites. Animals who were able to survive were moved to a different place so that they could receive veterinarian care.

Five counts of felony cruelty to animals were brought against Nathaniel and Aimee Curington, who were both charged with the offense.

The matter has been transferred to the District Attorney’s Office of Dade County for the purpose of prosecution, and it is anticipated that more charges will be brought.

Commissioner of Agriculture for the state of Georgia, Tyler Harper, referred to the situation as “one of the worst” that the agency has ever faced.

According to a statement released by Harper, “I am confident that these individuals will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law if they are found guilty.”

“The Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement is sending a clear message that animal abuse has no place in the state of Georgia, and we are committed to working with local law enforcement and prosecutors to crack down on those who abuse animals in our state,” the statement read.

The Dade County Jail was the location where the couple was being kept.
