In a court proceeding held on Tuesday in Dodge County, the Arkansas man who is accused of kidnapping a pregnant adolescent from Beaver Dam entered a plea of not guilty.
At 1:30 in the afternoon, Gary Day was brought before the court for an arraignment hearing.
There are two counts of child enticement and two counts of child abduction that have been added to Day’s criminal charges.
On October 7th, there will be a conference call for the purpose of scheduling.
Rescheduled to take place in September, the federal trial for Day, which was scheduled to begin on July 11th, has been delayed.
Day, who is forty years old, was indicted on federal charges that included having sexual relations with a person who was sixteen years old or younger, transporting a juvenile for the purpose of sexual relations, and four other offenses, one of which was child pornography.
A girl from Beaver Dam who is now 17 years old and is pregnant with Day’s kid was the subject of an AMBER Alert, which led to Day’s arrest by law enforcement.
Documents filed in court indicate that Day and the adolescent began communicating with one another via the internet in April of 2024. While her parents were under the impression that she was staying with a friend in Beaver Dam, the girl, who was 16 years old at the time, stayed with him at his house in Arkansas for a period of many months, according to the complaint. At the time of the accusation, Day is accused of bringing the kid back to Arkansas in July of 2024 after picking her up in Wisconsin.
In the month of December 2024, the family of the adolescent was informed by law enforcement in Arkansas of her whereabouts, and she eventually went back to her house. Day was seen on the home surveillance camera of the teen’s family on the morning of February 3, and the teen and Day resumed their prior conversation in January.
A missing person report was filed by the girl’s father on that day, and an Amber Alert was issued because of the situation.
A couple who were at a truck stop in Sarpy County, Nebraska, were concerned about Day after spotting him and the girl riding together. This led to Day’s arrest on April 3 by the police. After making the determination that the girl was the subject of an Amber Alert, a woman immediately dialed 911’s emergency number.
