Officials say that an Aubrey Fire Department ambulance crashed early Wednesday morning and killed one person and hurt two others.
News from the city of Aubrey says the accident happened at the corner of FM 424 and Fishtrap Road while the ambulance was on Highway 377 reacting to an emergency call.
The city said the ambulance was going fast and its emergency lights and sirens were on when it hit another car in the crossing. The driver of that car was seriously hurt and later died at the hospital, the report said. Two people in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Later, police reported that the driver was a woman aged 23 and that the two kids who were hurt were children.
The city said that the paramedics in the ambulance were not hurt and were able to help the people who were hurt in the crash.
The city said in a statement, “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones who have been hurt by this terrible loss.” “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and send our deepest condolences to you during this very hard time.”
The city said that the crash is “under review” by a third party, with help from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
