The body of a man who drowned on Wednesday at Lake Timpson after his kayak capsized was identified by the authorities involved in the investigation.
Following a search that lasted for two days, the corpse of Gregory Parker, 43, from Timpson was discovered by dive teams at 9:41 on Friday morning, according to Chief Deputy Mike Hanson of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. In the middle of Lake Timpson, Parker and his companion were paddling boats when Parker’s kayak abruptly flipped over, and he never came back to the surface of the water.
A friend of Parker’s reported to the authorities that he turned around after hearing a yell from behind him and found that Parker was submerged in the water. According to Hanson, a friend of Parker’s contacted 911 in the vicinity of the region where Parker went under, and the dive teams located the body almost precisely where a GPS traced the signal of the call.
The family of Parker, according to Hanson, described him as a good swimmer who did not have any known medical difficulties. Parker’s body was transported to Dallas for an autopsy, and the authorities do not suspect any foul play in the incident.
In addition to the San Augustine and Hudson Fire Departments, the DeSoto Parish Fire District 1 dive team and officials from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were among the law enforcement organisations and dive teams that assisted in the recovery of Parker’s body.
