Several persons were injured and a child was verified to have died as a result of an accident that occurred on Wednesday evening at Bay Area Boulevard on the Gulf Freeway. The accident caused the southbound lanes of the highway to be closed.
At approximately four o’clock in the afternoon, a Chevrolet Sedan suddenly lost control of its vehicle, crossed multiple lanes of traffic, and collided with a concrete barrier, as reported by the Webster Police Department.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the police reported that a little child had been confirmed dead as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
According to the authorities, a number of persons were taken to the hospital with injuries; however, the precise number of their injuries and the conditions of their injuries are still unknown.
During the time that two Life Flight helicopters were arriving at the scene and loading the victims onto their aircraft, SkyEye was flying overhead.
Officials from the City of Webster have informed motorists that they can anticipate an extended closure of the freeway. The West Bay Area Boulevard exit ramp is functioning as a detour for all traffic traveling in the southbound direction.
The investigation into what led to the accident is still ongoing by the police personnel.
