As a result of a collision that occurred on Thursday in Valencia, officials stated that one individual was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, where their status is currently unknown.
At approximately 12:08 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to an expanded traffic collision near the intersection of McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard, according to Geovanni Sanchez, a spokesperson for the Fire Department. The collision involved many vehicles. In a matter of moments, they arrived at the site.
According to Sanchez and observations made at the scene, one individual was rescued from a white van that was observed lying on its side along McBean Parkway facing the other side of traffic. Sanchez and the other witnesses at the scene made these observations. In addition, it looked that the front windshield of the van and a portion of its roof had been severed.
After receiving reports of a collision involving many vehicles, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station also arrived to the scene, according to Deputy Lucas Barr, who served as a spokesman for the station during the first reports.
In a follow-up phone contact with The Signal, Sgt. Anthony Levin of the SCV Sheriff’s Station stated that the driver of the white van ran a red light and collided with the bumper of another car. The driver then lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in a rollover collision.
Sanchez stated that the driver of the van was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, not knowing the condition of the driver at the time of his arrival.
In addition, Levin stated that the crash was considered an accident and that there is no evidence to suggest that driving under the influence played a role in it.
