Police say that a 77-year-old woman was found dead in her Bronx apartment after being beaten. Her husband has been charged with her murder.
Monday night, investigators were seen leaving the seventh-floor apartment in the Pelham Parkway neighborhood where Marsha Greenberg was found dazed and not responding. She had been hurt in the head. In the end, she died in the hospital.
“It’s really tough. I’ve known these guys for years… “Everyone in the building knows them,” said Luis Ortega, a neighbor.
Jeffrey Kolin, Greenberg’s 73-year-old husband, was arrested. Among the charges against him are murder, manslaughter, strangling, and illegal possession of a weapon.
People who live nearby told NBC New York that the couple had a fight.
“I’m hearing they’ve been yelling inside the apartment and that’s kind of concerning,” he said.
At first, it wasn’t clear what kind of weapon was used in the attack that killed someone.
Neighbors said the couple had lived in the apartment for a few years and that both of them seemed like nice people.
