Campbell Hall, NY – Student Dies in Fatal Pedestrian Collision with Vehicle

A high school student at Campbell Hall died in a car accident in the school’s parking lot in Studio City, a Los Angeles police officer said Wednesday.

Around 3:10 p.m., the 15-year-old was walking towards his dad’s car between two cars in the school parking lot’s pickup zone when he got stuck.

“The vehicle that the student walked in between moved forward,” LAPD Lt. Matthew Bielski said at a news conference. He also said that investigators were still trying to figure out why the Rivian SUV moved towards the student.

The teen was found to be dead at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles’s trauma centre after being taken there.

The driver of the SUV that hit and killed the teen did not go to that school.

Since the event was first thought to be an accident, no one will be given a ticket.

“There wasn’t anything illegal that happened that caused the accident,” he said.

Bielski also said that LAPD investigators talked to kids and families and interviewed school staff.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Cpt. Adam Van Gerpen said that two more kids and three adults were checked for injuries that were not life-threatening and then released.

“Everyone who saw this is harmed. A lot of kids are ending the school year and getting ready for summer. “This is also hard on our firefighters because they have to transport a teen who is in very bad shape,” Van Gerpen said.

A crisis reaction team from the mayor was also sent to the school to help with the investigation.
