Police in California say that two men struck another man while he was waiting in line to buy Pokemon cards. They are now in jail.
In a Facebook post, the Colma Police Department said that Isaiah Calles, 27, and Miguel Orellanas Flores, 49, were arrested and charged with several felonies on Saturday in connection with an incident at a GameStop shop. At 9:22 a.m. that day, police were called to the store because of accounts of a “physical altercation” between several people. When they got there, they saw an unknown person with painful injuries that could kill them, including “lacerations to the head and multiple stab wounds.”
People who saw the alleged fight, which happened while everyone was waiting in line to buy Pokemon cards, said the suspects drove off in different cars afterward.
Police say Flores tried to cut in line, which led to a verbal fight between him and the person who is said to have been harmed. As the fight got worse, Flores is said to have hit the victim over the head with a mason jar. Using the broken pieces of glass, Calles is said to have stabbed the victim “multiple times.”
The police did not say anything about a link or tie between Flores and Calles.
Police were told by people who were there that Flores and Calles drove off from the shopping center parking lot in their own cars and took pictures of the license plates on both cars. The police said they were able to follow both cars to the two suspects and quickly arrested both guys.
The person who was allegedly hurt was taken to the hospital and is in safe condition.
Flores and Calles were both charged with planning to commit a crime, battery causing serious bodily harm, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault with force likely to cause great bodily harm, with an extra charge of assault with great bodily harm. Both are being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility on a $250,000 bond.
It is set for Tuesday for Calles to go to court.
