The identification of the youngster, who was eight years old and had been retrieved from the water on Wednesday in Clinton, Massachusetts, has been made by the superintendent of elementary schools in the district.
In a message that he made on Facebook late on Wednesday night, Dr. Steve Meyer acknowledged that it was with a heavy heart that he made the announcement that Brady Cassidy had passed away in a tragic and unexpected manner.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Brady’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Meyer stated in his statement.
A youngster was discovered unresponsive in a body of water close to Lakeview Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the Clinton Police Department. Officers arrived to the scene. It was determined that the infant had passed away at a nearby hospital.
Neither additional information nor the child’s name were provided by the police.
Meyer stated that Brady was one of the students that would be entering the third grade at Clinton Elementary School. On Thursday, there was access to guidance workers at the school for both children and parents who were seeking assistance in working through their personal grief.
At the same time that Meyer noted that “we know that this news can be difficult for young students to understand and process,” she also encouraged families to look at this online resource that can be useful in addressing the topic of loss or grieving with youngsters.
At the end of his letter to the Clinton community, Meyer asked everyone to pray for Brady and his family. He also asked that everyone keep Brady in their thoughts.
Not only is the driveway where Brady was discovered adjacent to Mossy Pond, but it also houses the Harborview Apartments, which are managed by the Clinton Housing Authority. There has been no revelation of any other information regarding his passing. On Wednesday, the authorities announced that their investigation was still ongoing.
