According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, a man is being charged with attempted homicide following a stabbing that occurred late on Sunday night on the southeast side of the city.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on June 15, officers responded to a report of a stabbing that had occurred near 2700 Janitell Road, which is located just northeast of I-25 exit 138, close to Lake Avenue and South Circle Drive. This information was provided by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
According to the California State Police, when officers arrived, they discovered a victim who had a “serious injury.” The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital. The victim’s condition has been confirmed to be stable by the police.
According to the department, the suspect, Johnny Simmons, who is 49 years old, was also found at the scene and taken into custody. As of right now, he is being charged with attempted murder.
The Colorado Springs Police Department has stated that the investigation into the stabbing incident, as well as the circumstances that led up to the incident, is still ongoing at this time.
