A vicious collision that took place on Monday evening during a high-speed street racing event resulted in the injury of one driver who was not at fault and the arrest of another driver.
During the collision, which took place just after 8 o’clock in the evening, surveillance cameras captured footage of a black Ford Mustang colliding with two other vehicles as they were stopped at a red light.
According to the Vacaville police department, the Mustang, which was being driven by Alexis Nieto Salinas, 22, a resident of Vacaville, was competing against a black Corvette on eastbound Interstate 80 moments before it ended up pulling over at Cliffside Drive.
Following the Mustang’s loss of control at the foot of the off-ramp, it crashed with two automobiles that were not paying attention, causing “significant damage” and “sending glass and plastic flying.” This information was shared on social media by the police department.
After being taken into custody by the authorities, Salinas was booked into the Solano County Jail on accusations of reckless driving and misdemeanor speeding. He was initially charged with both of these offenses. It was also reported by law enforcement that his Mustang was held for a period of thirty days.
Salinas was released from incarceration by Wednesday, according to the records of the jail, and it is most likely that he had secured bail by that point. There was a previous conviction for dangerous speed that Salinas had received in 2023, according to the reports; however, the court records did not yet reflect any new charges against him.
In addition to continuing their search for the Corvette that was involved in the race, the authorities are requesting that anyone who has information about the second driver come forward.
The horrifying video footage makes it abundantly clear that spectators might be subjected to a variety of negative consequences as a result of street racing. Within their online statement, the police also lauded the members of the community who rushed to assist those who had been injured in the collision.
