An individual who was driving a white automobile that was involved in a hit-and-run accident that occurred a month ago and resulted in the death of a Davis lady is being sought by the California Highway Patrol.
According to the Yolo County Sheriff’s chief deputy coroner, Jessica Garza Herrera, who was 31 years old at the time of her death, was struck and passed away by the car early on May 11 along eastbound Interstate 80.
It was announced on Monday by the CHP Woodland office that investigators believe the vehicle involved is a white Hyundai Elantra from the 2016-2018 model year. Hierera, who was walking, is said to have been struck by the driver of the Hyundai.
Call the California Highway Patrol Woodland office at 530-702-6250 if you may have witnessed the incident, have information about it, or were involved in it.
A confirmed GoFundMe page that is appealing for donations to cover Herrera’s funeral costs states that she had graduated from Sacramento State in 2021 with a degree in women’s and gender studies and was attending the university once more to earn a master’s degree in gender equity studies at the time of the accident.
Herrera’s sister is the one who arranged the fundraising, and it reads as follows: “Jessica was passionate about helping others and had goals to help women involved in the criminal justice system.”
