Driver Arrested in Fatal Livonia Hit-and-Run that Killed 3-Year-Old Boy and Injured Mother and Twin Sister

A hit-and-run accident that occurred on Sunday in Livonia, Michigan, resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy, as well as the critical injuries sustained by his twin sister and mother. A woman from Michigan was taken into custody after the incident.

Around the time that the crowds were leaving the Livonia Spree festival, the incident took place close to the area where the festival was being held.

When they were struck, the mother, who was 28 years old and from Detroit, was crossing Merriman Road at Lyndon Street at approximately 10:46 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Livonia Police Department. Her two children were also present at the time. The children were rescued from the street by witnesses, according to the police. Immediately, law enforcement personnel administered first aid to the children and transported them to a nearby hospital, where the boy ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

In order to get the mother to a hospital, the Livonia Fire Department provided transportation. When Monday rolled around, both the girl and her mother were still in critical condition.

According to the police, the driver fled the scene after the incident. The vehicle was found in Mt. Morris, according to an update provided by the Livonia police department on Monday. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a woman who was 47 years old. She was taken into custody by law enforcement.

An inquiry is currently being conducted.
