The authorities have stated that a man from Penn Hills who was charged with a fatal accident that occurred in Monroeville the previous year had a blood alcohol level that was approximately three times higher than the legal limit.
According to a post that was made on Facebook on Monday by the Allegheny County Police Department, Marcus Alston Sr., who is 49 years old, is facing a number of charges in connection with the accident that occurred on November 3, 2024. These charges include homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and involuntary manslaughter. The accident resulted in the injuries of three individuals and the death of one individual.
On November 3, 2024, just before midnight, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 3700 block of Willian Penn Highway in response to a collision that had occurred there. When first responders arrived at the site, they discovered that a collision had occurred between the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder and the driver of a Toyota RAV4.
Both automobiles had two persons inside of them, and all four of them were sent to hospitals in the surrounding area. There was one woman who passed away in the hospital, and three were described as being in stable condition. According to the Allegheny County Police Department, the driver of the Nissan was identified as Shiya Young, who was a passenger in the vehicle.
The investigation conducted by the Allegheny County police revealed that the driver of the Nissan was traveling at an excessive speed when it collided with the Toyota from behind. According to the authorities, Alston was the one who was driving the Nissan. He was found to have a blood alcohol percentage of 0.233 percent and his driver’s license was suspended, according to the Allegheny County police investigation. Under the law, the limit is 0.08.
According to the officials, he was also traveling at a speed of more than ninety miles per hour at the time of the collision. The region has a speed limit of 35 miles per hour that is indicated on the signs.
